Wouk, Herman

narratore e drammaturgo statunitense (New York, 1915- Palm Springs 2019). Esordì in teatro con The Traitor (1949; Il traditore), cui seguì il suo lavoro più fortunato, The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial (1953; Corte marziale per l'ammutinamento del Caine), basato su un romanzo dello stesso Wouk (The Caine Mutiny, 1951). Ne fu tratto anche un famoso film, con regia di E. Dmytryk (1954). Anche come narratore Wouk ottenne parecchi successi con romanzi come Marjorie Morningstar (1955), The Winds of War (1971; Venti di guerra), War and Remembrance (1978; Ricordi di guerra), Inside, Outside (1985; Dentro, fuori), The Glory (1994), The Will to Live on: The Resurgence of Jewish Heritage (2000), A Hole In Texas (2004), The Language God talks (2010), The Lawgiver (2012).
